Preparations are underway ahead of the 145th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports Racing.
One of the most notable stories involves joint-favourite Improbable, who is aiming to give trainer Bob Baffert a sixth win in the race which would tie him overall with Ben Jones.
Friday night was the Kentucky Oaks, a race staged for three-year-old fillies at the same track. Plenty of ceremony was on show too, with WWE wrestler Titus O'Neil making an appearance at Churchill Downs.
13-1 shot Serengeti Empress was number 13 in that race and after a titanic battle with outsider Liora, Serengeti Empress came out on top with jockey Jose Ortiz on board. The favourite Bellafina came fifth.
Game Winner is among the favourites for the Kentucky Derby following the defection of original market leader Omaha Beach, who was ruled out by connections earlier in the week due to an entrapped epiglottis.
Game Winner is one of three runners for Baffert, who landed the race last year with subsequent Triple Crown hero Justify. His others, Roadster and Improbable, are also prominent in the betting.
