Crossed Baton is among a smart field of eight for the Investec Blue Riband Trial at Epsom on Wednesday.

The John Gosden-trained Dansili colt has won two of his three outings to date and holds entries in the Dante and the Investec Derby later in the season.

Gosden has won this race three years in a row and was successful 12 months ago with Cracksman.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, said: "Crossed Baton is in good form at home.

"He has come out of his win at Kempton in good shape and has had a straightforward time of things since that run.

"It was a nice performance last time out and this is another big step up for him. This is a nice race for him to go for and it fits in well in the calendar.

"He has been progressive in all three of his starts and his form has worked out strongly with Tigre Du Terre, who finished second to him at Kempton, running a nice race at Newbury over the weekend. We'll see how he gets on."

Mark Johnston, who has already won one Classic trial this season with Mildenberger at Newmarket, runs Dee Ex Bee.

Already a winner at Epsom, he carries the highest official rating of those that have one into the race.

Assistant trainer Charlie Johnston told Racing UK: "Dee Ex Bee has wintered very well, he has been doing a lot of work with Mildenberger (Feilden Stakes winner) this spring so we're hopeful of a big run from him."
