Amy Murphy is confident Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle runner-up Kalashnikov will be even better next season when having his sights switched to novice chasing.

The Newmarket handler plans to school the five-year-old, who won the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on his penultimate start, over fences later this week before turning him out to grass.

She said: "He is in great order and he has come out of the race very well. We are delighted with him.

"Bar winning (the Supreme), you could not fault him. He jumped foot-perfectly and galloped all the way to the line. That run was definitely better than his win in the Betfair Hurdle.

"He is a chaser in the making and he will have a school over fences towards the end of the week before we wind him down and turn him out.

"He will definitely be a better chaser, without a shadow of a doubt. When you look at him, he is a big frame of a horse and he has still got plenty of filling out to do.

"We will start him of over two miles. Whether that is where we stick, I don't know as I thought he wanted further this season. He will tell us where to go."
