Connections of Global Giant are in no hurry to firm up plans for the Shamardal colt after he got up close home to open his account at Newmarket earlier in the month.

The Ed Dunlop-trained youngster showed he had learnt plenty from his debut over the same seven furlongs when he was third last month by overcoming a slow start and having to be switched to collar Tribal Guest by a short head in the dying strides.

"We were very pleased with him. He's a horse we like. He's not a mature two-year-old," said Dunlop.

"We've not decided what we're going to do with him next, but he's come out of the race very well."

By coincidence, Global Giant was winning a division of the same maiden Dunlop had won with Native Khan in 2010. He went on to Group Three success in the Solario and Craven Stakes and was third in the 2000 Guineas in 2011 behind Frankel.

"That race has always been a decent maiden. We like this horse, so it was nice to see him win for us," said the Newmarket handler.
