Brian Ellison is dreaming of a three-race objective for his smart stayer Seamour, who he describes as the best horse he has trained.

The Stobart Rail Northumberland Plate at Newcastle in which he has finished second and sixth in the last two runnings is the first leg of the ambitious treble.

The Betfred Ebor at York in August will be next with the climax being the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington in November.

Seamour made a decent start to the 2017 campaign by finishing third behind Dal Harraild in a Listed race last month.

"He's flying. He's in great form, touch wood." said Ellison.

"I don't know who's riding him (at Newcastle) yet.

"The last two years he's been drawn in the car park. Last year, you could say he was unlucky but he ran four wide all the way round and still hit the front and looked the winner.

"He just wants a better draw really.

"He ran well on his comeback but they went no pace.

"I think he's the best horse I've ever trained. Hopefully the plan is the Plate, Ebor and Melbourne Cup.

"He needs to go up 7lb to get in the Melbourne Cup, so we could do with winning one of those two handicaps first. I think he'll have a massive chance."
