Nicky Henderson has raised the possibility of Champion Hurdle hero Buveur D'Air stepping up in trip at Aintree next month.

Third behind stable companion Altior in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at last year's Festival, the six-year-old kicked off this season with successive victories over fences.

However, Henderson decided to bring his charge back to the smaller obstacles for a tilt at Tuesday's two-mile crown and it proved a masterstroke as he ran out a dominant winner, providing the Seven Barrows handler with a record sixth victory in the race.

Henderson reported his charge to have taken those exertions well and a tilt at the Aintree Hurdle is under consideration.

He said: "Buveur D'Air is well. We have not really talked about what he will do yet and we will undo it all at the weekend.

"If there was a good bit of juice in the ground, he could go to Aintree for the two-and-a-half-mile race. We will just wait and see what the ground is like."
