Aidan Coleman, set to partner last year's winner Mon Mome in tomorrow's Grand National, had a miracle escape after a crashing fall at Aintree yesterday.

Coleman was riding Double Handful in the Matalan Anniversary 4-Y-O Novices' Hurdle when his mount crashed out at the very first flight.

The 21-year-old walked gingerly to an ambulance before being taken to Liverpool's Fazakerley Hospital.

But tests showed no major problems and Coleman, whose mount was partnered by Liam Treadwell when scoring at 100-1 for Venetia Williams in 2009, is confident of being passed fit by the racecourse doctor today.

"I am a bit sore but I am fine and I will be all right," said Coleman yesterday. "I will be here early tomorrow for some more physio and will have to see the doctor, but I think that I will be fine."
